Which bouquet for a marriage proposal
The classic proposal bouquet is red roses: they say love without ambiguity and look good in photos. But if your partner has a favourite flower, peony, ranunculus or pale rose, choose that: they will know you paid attention. Think about size too. A medium bouquet you can hold in one hand suits the moment better than a huge sheaf that hides their face in the photos. Very large arrangements belong in a hotel room or on a restaurant table, where nobody has to carry them.
How many roses for a proposal
Twelve roses are the number traditionally linked to commitment, and twenty-four say “I think of you every hour”. In practice, the size of the bouquet matters more than the exact stem count: nobody counts them during a proposal. At Hanaé, bouquets come in sizes, S, M or L, not by number of roses. The only exact number is in the room decoration Proposal package: twenty-four red roses in a vase. Our guide to the number of roses explains what each number means.
Number of roses meaningBefore, during or after · when to give the flowers
The classic trap: down on one knee, ring box in one hand, bouquet in the other, and nobody to hold the phone. Three options work better. Before: the bouquet waits on the restaurant table or in the room, and tells them the evening is special. After: you give it back at the hotel once they have said “yes”, when your hands are free. During, only if it is just the two of you, with no photographer: a small bouquet that fits in one hand leaves the other free for the ring box. Either way, the ring comes out first.
Eiffel Tower, Seine quays, Trocadéro · flowers in a public place
Many Paris proposals happen in front of the Eiffel Tower, on the Seine quays, at the Trocadéro or on a bridge. These are not delivery addresses: the courier delivers to an address where someone receives the flowers, a hotel, restaurant or home. The answer is to have the bouquet delivered to your hotel in the late afternoon and pick it up on your way out. Choose a compact size: the Trocadéro is packed in the evening, the wind blows on the bridges, and you will be walking with it. A photographer or a friend can also carry the flowers and bring them out only after the ring.
Delivery to a hotel or restaurant
At a hotel, have the flowers delivered under the booking name and warn reception: they will keep the bouquet until you return or take it up to the room. At a restaurant, call ahead to ask whether they can keep flowers out of sight and bring them with dessert, or set them on the table before you arrive. Give the restaurant’s name and the booking name in the address details. Choose a 30-minute slot at least an hour before you arrive, so you do not run into the courier. The courier photographs the hand-over, so you know everything is in place.

Hotel room decoration in ParisForgot the flowers? · express within 1 hour
If the proposal is tonight and you do not have flowers yet, express delivers within 1 hour anywhere in central Paris, at €18, available to order from 10am to 8pm. Of the 10 unslotted express deliveries measured on 25 October 2026, 9 arrived within an hour of payment, with a median of 47 minutes. That is a comfortable margin for a dinner, not for a proposal planned in twenty minutes: order as soon as you know where you will be. After 8pm, same-day delivery is no longer possible.
One-hour flower delivery in ParisWhat to write on the card
If the bouquet arrives before the proposal, the card must give nothing away: your partner may read it before you are there. “For tonight” or “For an evening that matters” is enough. If you give the flowers after the “yes”, the card can say it all: the date, the place, a line you will both keep. “25 October, on the Pont des Arts, you said yes” still reads well years later. At Hanaé, the card is included and copied out by hand; our guide to card messages has more examples.
